Lufthansa has announced the start of a new daily service between Birmingham and Hamburg, adding to the existing capacity from Birmingham International Airport to the German business and leisure destination.

The flight will operate Monday to Saturday from Monday 31st March, departing Birmingham at 08:15 and arriving into Hamburg at 10:55. The return flight will leave Hamburg at 07:00 the following day, landing into Birmingham at 07:45. Lufthansa will operate a CRJ aircraft with 43 seats.

Lufthansa fares, inclusive of all taxes & charges, start from £39 one way and £79 return in Economy Class, with alternative fares available in the Business Class cabin.

Peter Vella, Birmingham International Airport's Business Development Director said, 'Lufthansa is one of Birmingham's longest established scheduled carriers so we're really pleased to be able to launch another route with the Airline's team to compliment its existing network to Frankfurt, Munich and Düsseldorf from Birmingham.'

Announcing the new service Marianne Sammann, Lufthansa's General Manager UK & Ireland, said: 'This new service shows the importance of Birmingham within Lufthansa's worldwide network. As well as offering our Birmingham passengers quick and easy access to Germany's second largest city - Hamburg city centre is just 20 minutes from the airport, the service also increases the availability of onward connections as Lufthansa continues to develop Hamburg as a mini-hub to Central and Eastern Europe.'

For the short break traveller Hamburg offers a high quality of life and international flair in one of Germany's most beautiful cities. As an international port, media centre cultural stronghold and sporting venue Hamburg offers a variety of entertainment and attractions. It is also Germany's greenest city with parks and green spaces, waterways and woods covering almost half of the area within the city boundaries.  The city is loved for its contemporary scene as well as its cultural offerings and its stunning location, on the Elbe and Alster Rivers, provides visitors to the 1,200-year-old city with plenty to do. In Hamburg, the word "boredom" is unknown thanks to its colourful activity in the St. Pauli entertainment district, unforgettable musicals, a night at the theatre, Michaelis Church (colloquially "der Michel") or the impressive harbour.
