The West Midlands has long been established as a premier European region for attracting inward investment. In fact it is currently the UK's most successful region for attracting foreign direct investment, and is amongst the top five in Europe.

The West Midlands is home to over 2,100 overseas companies from more than 40 different countries, employing nearly 250,000 workers. Birmingham itself can boast nearly 1,000 internationally-owned businesses.

International companies based in the West Midlands include Peugeot, Ford, BMW, Fujitsu, Oracle, Gap, Denso, IBM, NEC and Johnson Controls.
